Adam Meek is a principal and the CEO of Brownfield Management Associates (BMA), an environmental, real estate and IT consulting company that helps organizations unlock value from their non-performing real estate assets. As a multi-disciplined team, BMA provides an integrated resource for organizations to identify and pursue various options (including protective divestment) to recover maximum value from their surplus and underutilized properties, while
minimizing associated environmental risks and liabilities. In preparing and executing value recovery strategies for BMA clients – ranging from Fortune 50 chemical companies to small, privately-held business – Mr. Meek works closely with corporate executives, managers and counsel to identify and capture opportunities that achieve both financial and risk-management goals and priorities.
Practicing law since 1991, Mr. Meek has extensive experience in all major areas of environmental legal counseling, including transactional guidance, sustainability, compliance counseling, site remediation management, cost recovery, facility closure, insurance recovery, litigation and enforcement defense.
Prior to launching BMA in 2009, Mr. Meek was a partner in the Real Estate Group at DLA Piper, a 3,700 attorney international law firm, where he specialized in complex corporate and real estate transactions involving environmentally impacted properties. Mr. Meek has negotiated numerous deals involving the acquisition and disposition of properties and companies with serious environmental and safety concerns, including many multi-facility, $100M+ transactions, for which he designed and executed creative, multi-layered contractual protections and risk-mitigation/allocation strategies to facilitate closing. He has represented a wide range of clients including manufacturing companies, utilities, investors, lenders, private equity groups and developers throughout North America and Europe.
Mr. Meek also advises clients on a broad range of sustainability and green real estate issues.
