Responsibilities
Adam Meek is a principal and the CEO of Brownfield Management Associates (BMA), an environmental, real estate and IT consulting company that helps organizations unlock value from their non-performing real estate assets. As a multi-disciplined team, BMA provides an integrated resource for organizations to identify and pursue various options (including protective divestment) to recover maximum value from their surplus and underutilized properties, while

minimizing associated environmental risks and liabilities. In preparing and executing value recovery strategies for BMA clients – ranging from Fortune 50 chemical companies to small, privately-held business – Mr. Meek works closely with corporate executives, managers and counsel to identify and capture opportunities that achieve both financial and risk-management goals and priorities.

Experience
Practicing law since 1991, Mr. Meek has extensive experience in all major areas of environmental legal counseling, including transactional guidance, sustainability, compliance counseling, site remediation management, cost recovery, facility closure, insurance recovery, litigation and enforcement defense.

Positions
Prior to launching BMA in 2009, Mr. Meek was a partner in the Real Estate Group at DLA Piper, a 3,700 attorney international law firm, where he specialized in complex corporate and real estate transactions involving environmentally impacted properties. Mr. Meek has negotiated numerous deals involving the acquisition and disposition of properties and companies with serious environmental and safety concerns, including many multi-facility, $100M+ transactions, for which he designed and executed creative, multi-layered contractual protections and risk-mitigation/allocation strategies to facilitate closing. He has represented a wide range of clients including manufacturing companies, utilities, investors, lenders, private equity groups and developers throughout North America and Europe.

Mr. Meek also advises clients on a broad range of sustainability and green real estate issues. As Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s 85-attorney Real Estate Green Team, he advised numerous clients on sustainable development, green leasing and sustainable facilities management, including counseling on energy efficiency and renewable energy options, LEED certification, eco-asset monetization, green maintenance and other real-estate related sustainability practices. Mr. Meek also has substantial experience in the energy sector, concentrating on alternative and renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, biofuels and clean coal.

Mr. Meek continues to counsel clients on legal matters through his law firm, Cameron Law, LLC. Mr. Meek and his associates provide a full-service environmental practice for Cameron’s corporate and other clients on a broad range of environmental transactional, risk-management, site remediation and regulatory compliance matters.

Professional Affiliations
Mr. Meek is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Chapter of CoreNet Global. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of StreetWise, a Chicago-based not-for-profit company that helps severely impoverished men and women through educational services and the entrepreneurial sales of news publications. Mr. Meek is also a Committee Co-Chair for the Industrial Asset Management Council, a global real estate organization focused on management of industrial real estate assets.
